Open Enrollment for Benefits

The annual open enrollment for benefits will run from October 26–November 13, 2009. During open enrollment, you can enroll in benefits or make changes to your existing benefits– including enrollment for 2010 calendar year flexible spending accounts. If you are planning to add dependents during open enrollment, you must verify their eligibility by submitting the appropriate documentation with your enrollment forms. For more information on the necessary documentation, please see the Employee Benefit Plan Summary. For more details on your benefits options, or for the necessary forms to enroll in or make changes to your benefits, watch for open enrollment materials to be delivered to schools and offices the week of October 19. All open enrollment changes, including the new option to fill your CVS/Caremark mail order prescriptions at any CVS retail pharmacy, become effective January 1, 2010. 10/21/09

Retirement Statements Now Online

Members of the MCPS Core or Supplemental Pension Plan will now be able to access their Personal Statement of Retirement Benefits at any time, from any computer using the secure web portal myMCPS. Printed copies of these annual retirement statements will no longer be mailed. Employees can access myMCPS via the link in the "Most Requested" section of the For Staff webpage on the MCPS website or by using the link above. 10/20/09

If you are considering retiring within the next two years, ERSC hosts a series of retirement workshops to help you prepare. During workshops, ERSC staff members discuss the timeline for retirement, eligibility, benefit formulas, leave, post retirement health and life insurance, taxes, and forms, and are available to answer questions. The next workshop will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2009. 10/7/09
