How to Host a Focus Group

Focus Groups provide you with the chance to let your voice be heard. Representatives from the Department of Materials Management will come to your school or office so you can bring up any concerns, suggestions, or even compliments about any DMM product or service. We only take about 30 minutes of your time, and we come bearing gifts! 

Thanks to feedback from recent Focus Groups, we have added in-demand items to our warehouse inventory, ordered improved cafeteria trays, produced new classroom products through the custom print shop, and advocated for you with other MCPS offices and departments.

Focus Group FAQs

As a host, what do I provide?  

You provide a specific time and place and 10-20 staff members. We do the rest. 

What does DMM provide?  

DMM will provide each of the following:

• Focus group flyers for staff, alerting them to the meeting and giving some background on DMM products and services.
• DMM staff members to facilitate the meeting, listen, and take notes.
• A prompt written response with feedback addressing each issue.
• A small gift for each participant.

How much time is required for a focus group?  

A focus group meeting can be as short as thirty minutes or as long as one hour, depending on your preference. 

What times of day are available for hosting a focus group?  

 Focus groups can be held before, during, or after regular school hours, at your convenience.
