Potomac Elementary School was built in 1949 and renovated in 1976.

The purpose of this project is to replace the existing Potomac Elementary School and provide program spaces for grades pre-Kindergarten through fifth grade that meet the requirements of the educational specifications. The new building will be built where the existing building is currently located.

When completed, the modernized facility will have an increased capacity of 472 students, with core spaces designed for 740 students. A seven-classroom addition will be master planned in the project and included as shell space.

The new facility will be in full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and will provide the required teaching spaces and support spaces for the school programs.

  • The design of the new building creates a loop circulation on the first floor while creating a “U” circulation on the second floor with stairs at each end. This layout allows for ease of travel throughout the building.
  • The layout further increases passive security by allowing ease of monitoring of all corridors.
  • The building is designed in a compact layout due to site limitations.
