Building Our Future Together

The New Teacher Induction program is excited to announce special summer training opportunities for educators new to MCPS. These are specifically designed to introduce new educators to the MCPS curriculum and the latest on-going assessment methods. New educators will be given strategies to create a positive classroom environment, to address diversity, and to integrate students of all abilities and learning levels (including English Language Learners) in classroom instruction. The 2017 NEO will be held on August 16, and August 17. Educators hired by MCPS for the 2017-2018 school year and/or educators hired after August 18, 2016, are encouraged to attend.

Registration 

NEO Registration is completed online through the MCPS Professional Development Online (PDO) System.

New Educator Orientation (NEO) 

Educators hired by MCPS for the 2017-2018 school year and/or educators hired after August 18, 2016, are encouraged to attend.  In fact, 95% of the new educators who attended NEO in the last four years recommend that you attend! 

Media Specialists:

August 9-10 (8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) at College Gardens ES, 1700 Yale Place, Rockville, MD 20850

Newly hired media specialists will meet in the media center of College Gardens Elementary School. Chromebooks will be available for use, but specialists can bring their own device if preferred. Please register on PDO before August 9th by using the section number:107017. Please bring your lunch with you on both days. Coffee and treats will be provided (throughout the day) on both days, and vending machines are also available in the staff lounge.

Elementary/Fine Arts/Special Ed. Educators:

August 16 (7:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) at Northwest HS, 13501 Richter Farm Road, Germantown, MD 20874  

Spend the day with exemplary MCPS educators learning MCPS curriculum by grade and/or subject area as well as innovative practices in teaching and learning that are applicable to students of all abilities and learning levels.  

August 17 (7:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) at Northwest HS, 13501 Richter Farm Road, Germantown, MD 20874

All new educators are invited to spend the day with MCPS educators learning MCPS curriculum. Representatives from payroll, insurance & retirement, staffing, and other areas will be available to explain important MCPS policies and resources, help you understand your rights and benefits, answer your questions, and help you complete the forms that you received in your hiring packet.  FORMS MAY BE RETURNED TO THE REPRESENTATIVES after completion on the same day. 

Secondary (Grades 6 - 12)/Specialty Area Educators: 

August 16 (7:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) at Clarksburg HS, 22500 Wims Road, Clarksburg, MD 20871

All new educators are invited to spend the day with MCPS educators learning MCPS curriculum. Representatives from payroll, insurance & retirement, staffing, and other areas will be available to explain important MCPS policies and resources, help you understand your rights and benefits, answer your questions, and help you complete the forms that you received in your hiring packet. FORMS MAY BE RETURNED TO THE REPRESENTATIVES after completion on the same day.
