Pre-retirement planning webinars are scheduled for members of the state teachers plan and their spouses who are within eight years of retirement.
Topics to be discussed include but are not limited to: social security and health benefits, legal considerations, and financial planning. Webinars are held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. You will receive email confirmation within three business days.
In-person seminars offering the same information as the webinars will resume once it is safe to hold them.
Retirement Specialists from the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System are available to assist members planning for retirement. To schedule a counseling session with a specialist, visit the online appointment scheduling website.
In preparation for the state counseling session, please file Form 9--Application for an Estimate of Service Retirement Allowance. Please allow 14-16 weeks to receive your state estimate from the MSRA. You need to have your estimate available to participate in the counseling session.
The MSRA publication The Mentor provides information on MSRA-sponsored pre-retirement seminars and a retirement checklist for members within 12 months of retirement. Additionally, the MSRA publishes a Retiree Newsletter, along with its retiree web page to provide helpful information for "soon-to-be" and current retirees.
