Unit 7

Unit Overview

In this unit, counting principles, including permutations and combinations, are applied to determine how many ways an event may occur. Pascal’s triangle and the binomial expansion theorem are used to expand binomials. Summation notation is introduced as a compact way of writing a series. Infinite series are analyzed, particularly infinite geometric series, to determine whether or not they have a sum.
