Concert Choir (Course Name-CHORUS 3A/B)
This choir is open to all students in grades 9 – 12. Students enrolled are committed to the study of musical performance representing a wide variety of styles. The class includes an introduction to fundamental singing techniques and music reading. The students who participate in choir will be enriched socially, while further enhancing skills in teamwork, music literacy, critical listening, and cultural exploration. Students occasionally rehearse outside the school day and participate in evening/weekend events. This choir participates in MCPS Adjudication events. There is no audition required to be in this ensemble.
The Advanced Choirs: QOverture and Chamber Singers (Course Names- SHOW CHOIR A/B CHAMBER SINGERS A/B)
The Advanced choir is an auditioned and select group of students in grades 10 – 12. It is an auditioned group of approximately 20-30 singers that performs all styles of choral music with an emphasis on classical music sung in as many as five different languages. This group also performs Pop, Theatre, and Vocal Jazz. Students occasionally rehearse outside the school day and participate in evening/weekend events. This choir participates in MCPS Adjudication events. This ensemble of students, grades 10-12, performs several concerts a year both at Quince Orchard and in the community.
