Accelerated and Enriched Programs in High School
Gifted and Talented Services at All Schools
Students whose motivation, outstanding talent, performance, or potential for performing at high levels of accomplishment are identified at the local school level to receive accelerated and enriched instruction. Each school has instruction tailored for students identified as gifted and talented.

Students from across the county may apply for this interdisciplinary problem-solving approach to the disciplines of math, science, and computer science.
Students from across the county may apply for this program that provides students with the knowledge and understanding of the science and cultural, social, political, economic, and technological conditions that affect the quality of life on our planet.
Students from across the county may apply this program where students will pursue a rigorous humanities curricula with an interdisciplinary connection among English, social studies, communications, and fine arts.

Local School Programs
This local International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme is available to students who are enrolled in certain high schools.
Support in the home school or at Walter Johnson, Northwood or Watkins Mill High Schools.
Mentoring program for gifted/learning disabled students and highly able students who are not succeeding in the regular classroom.
In addition to offering a comprehensive high school program, a number of high schools have created signature programs that integrate a specific focus or distinguishing theme with the skills, concepts, and instructional strategies of some portion of a school’s curriculum.
