Welcome to the NEW MCPS Compliance Unit Website!

The MCPS Compliance Unit was launched on July 1, 2017 and is responsible for the oversight, monitoring, and coordination of applicable federal, state and local regulatory compliance. A key function of this unit is to ensure every staff member is aware of our MCPS expectations and has the necessary information to create and maintain a lawful, positive, safe, and healthy climate and culture in which all adults and students are able to thrive and do their best work. To that end, beginning with the 2017-2018 school year, MCPS employees are required annually to complete a series of compliance training modules that delineate expectations for all employees.

Each module is 15 to 30 minutes long and accessed through PDO. The modules are as follow:

I. Building a Respectful Workplace Course

  • a. Employee Code of Conduct
  • b. Equal Opportunity in the Workplace
  • c. Workplace Bullying
  • d. Ethics, Conflict of Interest, Expectations, and Guidance

II. Creating a Safe and Respectful Environment for Students Course

  • a. Student Sexual Harassment
  • b. Supporting LGBTQ Students in MCPS
  • c. Religious Diversity
  • d. Suicide Prevention
  • e. Bullying, Harassment, and Intimidation
  • f. Gangs and Gang Behavior
  • g. Preventing, Recognizing, and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect

Depending on the MCPS job, staff may be required to complete job-specific trainings that are separate and in addition to the above modules. For example, school-based staff have additional trainings for anaphylaxis, blood-borne pathogens, and diabetes. Staff will be notified by their principal or supervisor of the additional training requirements.
