Outdoor Ed Adding Student Libraries

Outdoor_library.jpg

The Lathrop E. Smith Environmental Education Center, MCPS’ residential outdoor education facility, is adding student libraries to its four dormitories. These small libraries will be stocked with a range of popular young adult fiction titles for students to enjoy, as well as a variety of field guides and non-fiction resources for them to continue learning about the natural world.

The libraries are a collaborative effort, with bookshelves featuring Maryland symbols painted by the Redland Middle School Art Club, collection curation and technical assistance from the School Library Media Programs’ Evaluation and Selection Unit, and donations from numerous schools and individuals. If you’d like to donate, check out the books on the Outdoor Education Amazon wish list.
