Eleven Students Named Carson Scholars

Eleven MCPS students have been named Carson Scholars, earning $1,000 college scholarships. Carson Scholars are students in grades 4–11 who excel academically and donate their time and talents to others. 

MCPS students who are first-time scholarship recipients are:

  • Lior Baskir Freedman, 8th grade, Silver Creek Middle School
  • Martino Castro Cillis, 11th grade, Walter Johnson High School
  • Lena Chen, 11th grade, Albert Einstein High School
  • Edward Maximus Devinney, 11th grade, Winston Churchill High School
  • Kamgharida Ejiogu, 11th grade, Walt Whitman High School
  • Evin Fernando, 11th grade, Watkins Mill High School
  • Samyuktha Ganapathiraju, 8th grade, Lakelands Park Middle School
  • Smrithi Karthik, 11th grade, Poolesville High School
  • Mei Lee, 11th grade, Northwest High School
  • Nicolas Rieckhof, 11th grade, Quince Orchard High School
  • Chloe Saintime, 11th grade, Northwood High School

Five additional MCPS students were named Recognized Carson Scholars, which reaffirmed their status as scholar recipients for maintaining a 3.75 grade point average and continuing to do volunteer work. They are:

  • Tracy Espinoza, 12th grade, Watkins Mill High School
  • Sophie Huang, 12th grade, Richard Montgomery High School
  • Claire Kirner, 10th grade, Wheaton High School
  • Nsangi Lule, 7th grade, William H. Farquhar Middle School
  • Ayza Siddiqi, 12th grade, Clarksburg High School
