MONTGOMERY COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Beginning in the 2027–2028 school year, high schools will be organized into six geographic regions. Each region will offer a range of academic programs aligned to student interests and future opportunities, allowing more students to participate in specialized programs closer to home.
Families of Grade 7 students are invited to attend My Future Fair information sessions to learn more about the high school options available in MCPS. Beginning in fall 2027, MCPS will launch a new Regional High School Model, expanding access to specialized programs across the county. Current Grade 7 students will be the first to benefit from these expanded opportunities. Students may choose to apply to regional programs based on their interests. These programs are designed to expand opportunities, not replace the strong programs available at every high school.
Families and students are encouraged to learn about their local high school options before high school. To learn about the great options at your local high school, use the MCPS School Quick Links to find your school’s website. If you are not sure what your local high school is, use the MCPS School Assignment Tool to find out. To learn more about your student’s regional program options- explore this site.
Program information is currently being developed and finalized; offerings, requirements, and details are subject to change.
