MCPS Students “Leveled Up” at the 2025 Game Changer Conference
More than 225 young men from 146 MCPS schools, along with 125 parents and guardians, came together for the 2025 Game Changer Conference held at Montgomery College’s Germantown campus. Hosted by the Unity Christian Fellowship, Inc. Youth Development Organization, the conference provided an inspiring morning of leadership, learning and community connection for male students in Grades 4-12.
This year’s theme,“Future Ready: Level Up!,” encouraged students to build confidence, strengthen life skills and prepare for success in a rapidly changing world. Students participated in hands-on life skills stations, STEM experiences, panel conversations and a workshop exploring postsecondary pathways. Parents attended the Parent Advocacy Academy to learn strategies for navigating modern school challenges.
A highlight of the event was an essay contest focused on students’ goals for “winning” their futures. The winners in each age division are:
- Elementary School: Ivan Isah, 5th grade student at Christa McAuliffe ES
- Middle School: Kamden Garner, 8th grade student at Rocky Hill MS
- High School: Mikael Johnson, 12th grade student at Montgomery Blair HS
“Our mission is to craft a ‘Game Changer’ experience that reignites and builds the social-emotional wellness, confidence and values our young males need to ascend to the next level and become a true success story,” said Donald Williams, conference organizer. “This conference is a beacon of hope and empowerment."
