Dr. Monifa B. McKnight, Superintendent of Schools, recently announced the addition of an External Affairs Senior Advisor, Nancy Navarro.

From fostering collaborations with various agencies to devising strategies aimed at bolstering the district’s outreach and engagement endeavors, Navarro’s support will reinforce the key priorities set by the MCPS Board of Education.

Navarro served 13.5  years on the County Council, where she represented District 4 and served as Council President multiple times. Navarro is also a former elected member of the Montgomery County Board of Education, where she served as both President and Vice President for two consecutive years.

Navarro’s responsibilities align closely with prioritizing the expansion of the early childhood program, as prescribed by the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future. Her focus extends to promoting  student wellness, enhancing community outreach and engagement, especially within the Latino community, and fostering improved communication between MCPS and County leaders.

Drawing from her extensive experience in Montgomery County, Navarro’s efforts will be instrumental in crafting essential strategies and establishing meaningful connections critical to providing all students with a clear pathway to College, Career, and Community readiness.
