As part of MCPS’s Department of Facility Maintenance, the Sustainability and Compliance Team handles the day-to-day environmental work across our school district.

We work to bring sustainability into every facility and decision, keeping our buildings running as cleanly and efficiently as possible. This helps create healthy, equitable learning and working spaces for all while protecting the planet.

By pairing green building management with school outreach, we provide staff and student groups with resources for recycling, energy campaigns, and environmental projects to help build a cleaner, healthier district through collective action.

Policy

Sustainability in MCPS is more than a good idea. It’s a formal district pledge backed by specific performance goals.

Policy ECA - Sustainability commits MCPS to support and be an active participant in achieving Montgomery County’s goal to cut GHG emissions 80 percent by 2027 and 100 percent by 2035 (relative to 2005 levels).
