The Northeast Consortium serves students in the "base areas" of Blake, Paint Branch, and Springbrook high schools. Each campus offers a comprehensive high school curriculum plus a distinctive 'Signature Program.' More about the NEC

NEC High School Options Fair Virtual Information Session

NEC High School Open House Dates:

  • Thursday, October 15, 2020 @ 7PM - Springbrook HS (Regional IB Session will start at 5:30 PM)

  • Tuesday, October 27, 2020 @ 7PM - Blake HS

All Open Houses will be virtual.  More information can be found on the website for the school closer to or on the dates listed above.  

Attention Current 8th Grade NEC Families

NEC Choice forms are due by Friday, November 6, 2020.  Current MCPS students who reside within the NEC will be mailed directions and the link to submit the Choice form mid-October 2020.

Do you live within the NEC boundaries? Need to enroll your child in high school?

The online process for enrollment starts at the link below.  That is the first step in the process of registering and enrolling your student into MCPS. Once complete, you will be directed to our team to complete the Choice process and be assigned a school.  

Please email with any questions.  Please allow 36 hours (or less) for a response.  


Appeal Information 

An appeal process is in place for those who may have a unique and verifiable hardship or unforeseen circumstances that could warrant override the school assignment process.  To appeal, you must submit a letter explaining the reason for the request to the director of DCCAPS. Please include your students name, MCPS ID number, parent/guardian signature, and phone number.  Appeals are due by Friday, April 3, 2020.  During this nationwide emergency, you may submit your appeal by email to and we will process all appeals received.
