Performing Arts Students Shine in Awards Celebration

Dozens of MCPS high school seniors were recognized for their accomplishments in dance, theatre performance, technical theatre, choral and instrumental music, media arts, and 2D and 3D visual art at the 23rd annual Superintendent’s All-County Fine Arts Awards Celebration on May 20 at Seneca Valley High School. The event featured musical and dance performances from four high schools, plus the All-County Dance Ensemble, which performed Battle Cry, choreographed by Alice Howes and directed by Tiffany Alastanos.

Performances included:

  • Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School Jazz Ensemble, which performed “Solar,” by Miles Davis, arranged by John Wasson and directed by Marshall White.
  • Thomas S. Wootton High School Winter Guard, which performed “Forgetting How to Remember: Living with Dementia,” directed by Susan Eckerle and Carolyn Herman.
  • Northwest High School Theatre, which performed “Roar” from the musical Mean Girls, directed by Sherion Cosby.
  • QO Theatre from Quince Orchard High School, which performed “All that Jazz” from Chicago the Musical:Teen Edition, directed by Jess Vogel.
