Board of Education

The Board of Education is the county's official educational policy-making body and is responsible for the direction and operation of the public school system.

Superintendent of Schools

The Superintendent of Schools provides leadership, policy, guidance, and administrative direction to the school system, according to the policies of the Board of Education.

Director of Communications

The Director of Communications oversees the implementation of electronic and print information systems that disseminate information to parents, students, news media, and the general public through publications, cable television, the Internet, and responses to inquiries.

Office of the Chief Academic Officer

The Chief Academic Officer oversees all educational services offices: curriculum and instructional programs; special education and student services; engagement and partnerships; and shared accountability and research.

Chief Operating Officer

The Chief Operating Officer oversees human resources and the systemwide support functions that form the infrastructure of the school system's daily operations: facilities management; school boundaries and the capital budget; financial services; the operating budget; transportation; materials management; association relations; and school safety and security.

Deputy Superintendent of School Support and Improvement

The Office of School Support and Improvement leads by providing systemwide support for school communities, building capacity, strategically monitoring performance, and facilitating open communication.The Office of School Support and Improvement includes Associate Superintendents and Directors of School Support and Improvement. Each Associate Superintendents oversees about 30 schools that are organized in clusters (see School Clusters). The Directors of School Support and Improvement review and analyze school data, oversee the school performance support teams, and provide assistance to principals on all school-based issues.

Office of the Chief Technology Officer

The Office of the Chief Technology Officer oversees data and information management, research and quality controls: measuring and monitoring the effectiveness of systemwide initiatives; administering and reporting on assessments; regulatory accountability and audits; student and business information technology systems; and technology integration, training, implementation and support.
