The EAP offers workshops for employees on a variety of topics to support mental health, well-being, and professional development. Workshop topics can include:

FALL 2025 PDO Workshops

The EAP office offers in-person and virtual workshops throughout the year on PDO for supporting services professionals, administrative and supervisory professionals, and workshops that are open to all employees. View upcoming workshops below and register on PDO:

  • October 7, 2025 from 4:00–5:30 p.m.: Communicating to Enhance Relationships. This interactive workshop will review effective communication strategies that contribute to a collaborative and respectful workplace environment. Participants will practice active listening, assertive communication, and self-regulation strategies to enhance their communication skills. Staff will learn concrete tools to effectively communicate their message, increase understanding, and resolve conflict in a more positive way.  Register on PDO Course #93516 Section#: 143319 for Support Staff Professionals (SPT10).
  • October 17, 2025 from 12:00–12:45 p.m.: Caring for Yourself while Leading Others: Leader Well-Being. During Session 1 of the EAP Professional Development Series for Leaders, participants will identify realistic and attainable strategies to prioritize their well-being as an MCPS leader. Participants will identify their successes and barriers, and connect with other leaders on well-being.   • November 3, 2025 from 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.: Building Your Resilience for Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW). This interactive workshop with the MCPS Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will empower you with skills to manage adversity, change, and stress. You will practice strategies to nurture your resilience and leave this workshop with the tools to implement a proactive and responsive resiliency plan that works for your life.   • November 4, 2025 from 12:30–1:00 p.m.: Mindfulness Drop-In Session for MHAW. Take a mindful break in your workweek with the MCPS Employee Assistance Program (EAP). This drop-in guided session offers a chance to pause, reset, and return to your day. Mindfulness can help reduce stress, improve focus, and promote greater well-being. All are welcome!   • December 9, 2025 from 4:00–5:30 p.m.: Recognizing and Responding to Stress. Stress is a natural part of life, and yet too much stress can overwhelm our brain and body. During this interactive workshop, participants will learn how to identify their own unique stress response. Staff will practice proactive and responsive strategies to alleviate stress.
