Students are encouraged to check out the following scholarship opportunities available through their high school College and Career Centers. Air Force Officers' Spouses' Club Scholarship 3/1/19 Seniors who are military dependents of active duty, reserve, guard, retired, MIA/POW, deceased officer or enlisted members of the USAF with a 3.25 GPA or better.
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Ira Dorsey Scholarship 4/6/19 Essay/speech contest open to students in grades 9-12. Finalists must deliver their speeches to a public audience for the competition.
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Paul Robeson Scholarship 4/6/19 Male seniors planning to attend a 2 or 4-year U.S. accredited college/university in the fall following graduation. Merit scholarship awarded to 3.4 GPA or better; need-based scholarship awarded to 2.5 GPA or better. Application information.
Alpha Kappa Alpha, Ivy Vine Charities Scholarship 3/01/19 Seniors with a 2.7 GPA or better who have demonstrated participation in school activities and community. Must be accepted to 4-year college/university or Montgomery College. Several scholarship opportunities available.
American Chemical Society Scholars 3/1/19 Underrepresented minority seniors with financial need who are planning to pursue a degree in the chemical sciences; minimum 3.0 GPA in chemistry or science.
Americanism Essay Contest 12/1/19 Essay contest for students in grades 7-12 to promote the spirit of Americanism and patriotism. Essay must be submitted through an FRA member or branch.
A. R. Tilghman Memorial Scholarship  2/25/19 Seniors with a desire in the education and care of the mentally disabled. Scholarship also available to aid the career development of mentally disabled students. Application information.
Ashley Tamburri Scholarship 3/31/19 Seniors who are cancer survivors or are living with cancer diagnosis.
Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship 1/10/19 Seniors of Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity with a 2.7 GPA or better who are planning to attend a U.S. accredited college/university.
Association of Vietnamese Americans Scholarship   Vietnamese American seniors in MD with financial need; recipient required to participate in at least one AVA community activity or outreach event.

Bernie Scholarship Awards Program 3/1/19 Seniors with financial need, a 2.0 GPA or better, who live in Montgomery County and receive housing assistance. Preference given to those with demonstrated community service and/or planning to pursue a degree in public service. Online applications only.
BigSun Scholarship 6/19/19 Senior athletes engaged in any sport.
Blacks in Government DOL Scholarship 3/15/19 Seniors with a 2.0 GPA or better.
Blacks at Microsoft Scholarship 3/1/19 Seniors of African descent with a 3.3 GPA or better who are planning to attend a 4-year college/university. Must be planning to pursue a degree in engineering, computer science, computer information systems, or similar business program. Students must have demonstrated a passion for technology and leadership at school or community..
Bridges Program Scholarship 9/24/18 Students who successfully complete the program are accepted for fall admission at Miami University's Oxford, OH campus.
Carson Scholars Fund 1/9/19 Students in grades 4-11 with a 3.75 GPA or better with demonstrated involvement in community service. Students must be nominated by school to compete for this scholarship.
CAPA-MC Dr. Alan Cheung Community Leadership Scholarship 3/15/19 Two types of scholarships offered: individual and group. Eligibility for the individual scholarship requires applicants to be Chinese American in grades 9-12, with a 3.0 GPA or better, and who have earned more than 75 SSL hours. Eligibility for the group scholarship requires a group of more than 3 members, the majority of whom are Chinese American in grades 9-12, with at least 3 members meeting the minimum GPA and SSL hours requirement. Scholarship opens 2/1/19.
Children of Fallen Patriots Scholarship N/A Students of military personnel who have lost a parent in the line of duty or service connection. Scholarships may include expenses related to college entry tests and fees, educational counseling, and tutoring.
College JumpStart Scholarship 4/15/19 and 10/17/19 Students in grades 10-12 who are planning to attend an accredited 2 or 4-year college/university, or a vocational/trade school in the U.S. Must have demonstrated community service and/or volunteering.
Cooke College Scholarship 11/13/18 Seniors with financial need, a 3.5 GPA or better and 1200 SAT score or 26 ACT score, and are planning to enroll in an accredited 4-year university.
Create Real Impact Scholarship 10/1/18 Full-time students ages 14-22.
Diverse Minds Writing Challenge 3/16/19 Students in grades 9-12. Must write and illustrate a children's book that tells a story of tolerance, diversity or inclusion and promotes an understanding of different cultures. The winning book will be published.
Dorothy Marvil Scholarship 4/1/19 Must be an ESFCU member with a 2.75 GPA or better.
Dwight P. Jacobus Scholarship 3/1/19 Seniors with a 2.0 GPA or better; resident of MD or D.C. for at least one year prior to application; have demonstrated financial need; and interested in a career in Business or Education
Edward T. & Mary A. Conroy Memorial Scholarship 7/15/19 MD residents who are the child or stepchild of a member of the US Armed Forces who died or became disabled as a result of military service; must enroll at a 2 or 4-year MD college/university as a degree seeking student.
Elizabeth Ann First Memorial Scholarship 4/19/19 Seniors who live a tobacco-free lifestyle and have demonstrated a commitment to anti-smoking advocacy.
Elks Skilled Trades Scholarship 3/15/19 Students planning to pursue a two year associate degree, certificate, or diploma.
Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship 11/15/18 Seniors who are U.S. citizens and are pursuing a 4-year degree full-time at an accredited U.S. college/university. Female and male applicants compete separately and are judged on leadership and financial need. Application information.
Esperanza Scholarship 4/1/19 Seniors born outside of the U.S. or have two parents born outside the U.S. and planning to enroll full-time at an accredited college/university. Scholarship provides recipients with mentors to help navigate college, internships, and begin careers.
Fort Meade Officers' Spouses' Club Scholarships 3/15/19 Several scholarships available for seniors with a 3.0 GPA or better and planning on enrolling full-time at an accredited college/university. Must have a connection to Fort Meade by residence or parent/guardian military affiliation.
Girls on the Run Montgomery County Alumna Scholarship 3/31/19 Seniors who are alumnae of GOTR or GOTHS and have participated in either program for at least 2 seasons. Must have a 3.0 GPA or better and be planning to attend an accredited college/university in the fall following graduation. Requires a 1-minute video or a 500 word essay.
Greater Washington Urban League Scholarships 1/25/19 Seniors with a 2.5 GPA or better with financial need and near completion of community service hours.
HBCU Carolyn M. Harris Scholarship 1/25/19 Seniors who are members of a musical ensemble with a 2.5 GPA or better and planning to pursue a degree in applied music, music education or music performance at a Historically Black College or University (HBCU).
HBCU Evelyn Hider Scholarship 1/25/19 Seniors with a 2.5 GPA or better with financial need and planning to attend a Historically Black College or University (HBCU).

HBCU Rev. Dr. Wallace Charles Smith Scholarship 1/25/19 Seniors with a 3.5 GPA or better who are planning to attend a Historically Black College or University (HBCU).
Herb Block Scholarship 7/7/19 and 11/10/19 Seniors with financial need, living in the Metro DC area who are planning to attend one of the participating community colleges.
Herbert Lehman Scholarship 4/1/19 Seniors who have a combined family income of $65,000 or less, a record of academic achievement and have demonstrated a commitment to public service.
Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards 10/15/18 Seniors of Hispanic Heritage with a 3.0 GPA or better and planning to pursue a 4-year degree in various academic majors.
Hispanic Scholarship Fund 2/5/19 Seniors of Hispanic Heritage with a 3.0 GPA or better applying to a not-for-profit 4-year university with strong consideration for applicants pursuing STEM degrees.
Imagine America Scholarship 12/31/19 Seniors graduating within the scholarship program year who are interested in attending a trade school or career college in MD. Must have financial need, a 2.5 GPA or better, and demonstrated voluntary community service during senior year.
Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship 2/1/19 Minority seniors who are planning to attend an accredited 4-year college/university within the U.S. and can show leadership potential and a dedication to community service.
Junior Achievement Essay Competition 2/15/19 Essay contest for students in grades 9-12.
Kappa Youth and Community Scholarship 3/15/19 Underrepresented minority senior males living in Montgomery County. Must have a 2.5 GPA or better, be active in extra-curricular activities or work related activities, and have been accepted to a college as a full-time student. Application information.
Kids' Chance of Maryland N/A Students whose parent or guardian suffered a catastrophic injury or occupational disease while working for a Maryland employer.
Lawrence Hamm, Sr. Scholarship 3/1/19 MCPS seniors with financial need who have demonstrated volunteer or community service and have applied or been accepted to a college/university.
LEAPP-The League of Educators for Asian American Progress Scholarship 2/15/19 Seniors with a 3.0 GPA or better who plan to major in education and are student members of an Asian American club, or who have earned student service learning hours supporting Asian American organizations or programs. Legacy of Life Scholarship 3/31/19 Seniors write a persuasive essay and/or produce a video that educates and motivates an audience to become registered organ, eye and tissue donors.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Award 6/1/19 Minority students who are interested in a career in the criminal justice field. Must be able to demonstrate commitment to the principles of Dr. King. Proof of financial need and acceptance to a 4-year college is required.
Maryland Emergency Management Association Scholarship 4/12/19 Seniors accepted to a 2- or 4-year college/university with financial need who are planning to pursue a career in Emergency Management, Public Safety, Disaster Relief, Public Services, Meteorology, Risk Management or related field.
Maryland Hispanic Achievement Scholarship 6/30/19 Seniors with a 2.5 GPA or better with financial need, planning to attend a MD college/university, and have performed community and/or volunteer service within the past year.
Maryland JCI Senate Foundation Scholarship 1/4/19 Seniors graduating from a MD high school.
Maryland State Financial Assistance Programs Varies Numerous grants and scholarships based on financial need, chosen career/occupation, or unique population.
McDaniel College Educator's Legacy Scholarship Applications accepted on a rolling basis Seniors who are children of K-12 and community college educators. Must complete the full admission process and be admitted to McDaniel College as full-time degree seeking student.
McDonald's HACER Scholarship 2/4/19 Seniors with a 2.7 GPA or better with at least one parent of Hispanic heritage.
MCPS Educational Foundation Scholarship 3/31/19 MCPS seniors with a 2.0 GPA or better with financial need.
MELLFIN Scholarship 3/12/19 Seniors who are currently in an ESOL program or have exited an ESOL program within the past 3 years. Must have a 3.0 GPA or better and demonstrated a commitment to attend college.
Montgomery County Alumnae Chapter Scholarships 1/13/19 Three scholarships for seniors with financial need, who reside in Montgomery County, and are focused on the improvement of their community.

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) 2/22/19 Graduating seniors with a 3.0 GPA or better, living in Montgomery County. Must demonstrate participation in extracurricular activities and faith-based, religious-based, or volunteer activities. Application information.
National Association for Education of Homeless Children and Youth Scholarship 4/30/19 Seniors must be homeless (as defined by the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Act) or have been homeless at any time during their school attendance.

University of Maryland Creative and Performing Arts Scholarship 12/12/18 Seniors with a strong background in dance technique or choreography; application to UM as a dance major required before submission of application; audition required.
