Naming of Downcounty Consortium Elementary School 29

The Board of Education began the process for naming a new elementary school in the Downcounty Consortium by submitting four names for consideration. The new elementary school will open in August, 2012 in the McKenney Hills area. The four names submitted by the Board were Mary McLeod Bethune, Charles Gilchrist, Josiah Henson and Flora Singer. The principal of the new school will begin the school naming process, which will involve a community group, which may consider the Board’s submissions, as well as others. Pursuant to Policy FFA, Naming School Facilities, the final responsibility for naming a school building rests with the Board of Education. Read the regulation on naming school facilities
