Round 1 School Assignment Letters
School assignment letters for current Grade 8 NEC students have been mailed to homes. Information about high school registration, Round 2, and appeals is located in the letters.
Round 2 of the Choice Process
Grade 8 students who live within the NEC area are eligible to participate in Round 2 of the high school Choice process:
For students who did not get their first choice in Round 1
Students should submit a statement signed by their parent to the DCCAPS office by February 19, 2010 requesting participation in Round 2. Please include the student’s first and last name, student ID, and the current school. Original choices will be re-entered. Re-entry of choices does not guarantee first choice in Round 2.
For students on transfer to an NEC school
Students will receive a Choice form by mail. Submit the completed form to the DCCAPS office by February 19, 2010.
For new students to the NEC area since November 9, 2009.
Students will receive a Choice form by mail. Submit the completed form to the DCCAPS office by February 19, 2010.
Parent Registration Information Night
The High School Registration Information Meeting for current Grade 8 students and their parents will be held on Wednesday, February 17, at 7:00 p.m. at the student's assigned Northeast Consortium high school. Snow date: February 18.
Grade 9 registration cards are due to middle school counselors on Friday, February 19.

Change of Choice for 2010-2011
For students in Grades 9, 10, 11 requesting a change to one of the other Northeast Consortium high schools for next year, the Change of Choice Request Form for 2010-2011 is now available in school counseling offices. Completed forms must be signed by the parent and turned in by the deadline, Friday, February 19. Forms may be returned to the student's school counselor or to the DCCAPS office by FAX: 301-649-8155 or mail: DCCAPS, 11721 Kemp Mill Road, Silver Spring, MD 20902.
Current NEC students who submitted a Change of Choice Request Form will be sent notification letters by end of March.
