Humanities House

Program Description

Humanities House students will pursue a rigorous humanities curricula with an interdisciplinary connection among English, social studies, communications, and fine arts. Humanities students will be able to integrate oral and written communication skills with state-of-the-art visual media. The Humanities House is one of three magnet programs at Poolesville High School.

Students will have the opportunity to:

  • Pursue a rigorous interdisciplinary curriculum
  • Develop and deepen skills in oral and written communication
  • Work with peers to develop top quality print, photo, and video products

Admission to the Humanities House is very competitive. To be eligible, students must be enrolled in Algebra 1 or higher by Grade 8. Criteria used to evaluate candidates include written statements from candidates, previous grades, coursework, test scores, and interests and achievements.
