Montgomery County Public Schools employees planning to retire on July 1, 2021, must submit all retirement application forms to the Employee and Retiree Service Center (ERSC) by May 28, 2021. If you plan to roll over payments of accumulated sick or annual leave to your 403(b) or 457(b) retirement savings plans, those forms also must be completed and submitted to ERSC by May 28, 2021.
You can access the necessary retirement application forms, as well as completed sample forms for reference, by selecting your plan below:
If you are a member of the State core pension plan, you can access the yearly statement detailing your projected retirement benefit via the Maryland State Retirement Agency (MSRA) website. If you are a member of the MCPS core pension plan, you access your annual statement of retirement benefits online via PenPoint, MCPS’s self-service retirement system.
Retirement Forms and informational webinars that provide information on the retirement process and offer instruction on completing retirement forms are available on the Retirement Planning web page.
State core pension plan members: If you submit your final retirement forms between May 29, 2021 and June 30, 2021, the effective date of your retirement will be August 1, 2021. If you retire on August 1, 2021, you will not be eligible to receive your first cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) to your State pension benefit until July 1, 2023. This is because you must be retired for at least 12 months before you are eligible to receive a COLA. Since COLAs are made on July 1 each year, the one-month delay in your retirement will delay your first COLA by 11 months.
