Child Find

All children with disabilities residing in Montgomery County, including Children with disabilities who are homeless children, and children with disabilities attending private schools, regardless of the severity of their disability, and who are in need of special education and related services, are identified, located, and evaluated by Montgomery County Public Schools.

Birth to Kindergarten:

The Child Find unit provides free developmental screenings for children from three years of age until kindergarten. It is also the single point of entry for families moving into Montgomery County whose preschool-age child was previously identified with a disability. Nonresident families with a developmental concern about their child who attends a preschool or childcare center located in Montgomery County may also contact the Child Find unit. Parents of children between birth and three years of age should contact Montgomery County Infants and Toddlers Program to request evaluation if they have concerns about their child's development (240-777-3997.)

Kindergarten to Age 21:

Parents of students in kindergarten through age 21 should contact their neighborhood school to request evaluation.
