Child Find provides free developmental screenings for children from three years of age until kindergarten. It is also the single point of entry for families moving into Montgomery County whose preschool-aged child has been previously identified with a disability.
Non-resident families with developmental concerns about their child who does NOT have an IEP and attends a preschool or child care center located in Montgomery County may contact Child Find.
Non-resident families who have a child with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) and who attends a preschool or childcare center located in Montgomery County, should contact the Division of Business, Fiscal, and Information Systems at 240-740-3852.
Birth to Age 2 Years, 10 Months:
Parents of children between birth and two years, 10 months of age should contact Montgomery County Infants and Toddlers Program to request an evaluation if they have concerns about their child’s development at 240-777-3997.
Kindergarten to Age 21:Parents of students in kindergarten through age 21 should contact their neighborhood school to request an evaluation. In order to complete a screening for a child who will enter Kindergarten in the fall, the completed paperwork must be received by the Child Find office by March 22. After that date, screenings will be handled by the neighborhood school.
Please submit the following information if you have concerns with your child’s development. A Child Find Specialist will contact you to schedule a screening following submission of all required documents.
