NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

Have Your Say: Upcoming School Boundary Study Information Sessions

MCPS is committed to making sure all students have access to excellent academic programs—and that starts with listening to our community.

Beginning later this month, MCPS will host a series of public information sessions focused on school boundary studies. These sessions will explain the initial options under consideration and how any potential changes could impact students and families.

Your voice is essential. Attendees will receive a survey link to provide feedback and help guide the process. These studies are designed to be transparent, accessible, and inclusive, and we encourage all community members to get involved.

Don’t miss the opportunity to participate and stay informed.
Visit the MCPS Boundary Studies Web Page for details, updates, and ways to engage.

MCPS Sets Higher Bar for Student Behavior in 2025-2026

MCPS is updating the Student Code of Conduct for the 2025–2026 school year, with a renewed focus on safety, accountability, and student growth. Highlights include:

  • Clearer expectations for student behavior will be communicated across all schools.
  • Stronger accountability for serious violations of the code of conduct.
  • Restorative justice will play a bigger role, helping students rebuild trust and meet state standards.
  • Family involvement is key—mandatory readmission conferences will be required after suspensions.
  • Student orientation and ongoing advisory sessions will ensure every student understands their rights, responsibilities, and consequences.

Community-driven:

These updates are shaped by voices from across the county—through a districtwide survey, five superintendent listening sessions, and more than 20 school-based meetings.

What’s next:
Families will receive the updated code through multiple platforms to support a shared understanding and stronger school-home partnerships. Schools will include discussions on behavior expectations in student orientation sessions and ongoing advisory periods to ensure students understand their rights, responsibilities, and consequences.
