Two students from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School have won the 2024 Electric Vehicle Wrap Design Contest. The contest increased awareness and demonstrated the district's commitment to environmental sustainability and sustainable actions.

In addition to more than 200 electric school buses, MCPS has seven electric-powered cargo vans and two plug-in hybrid SUVs in its fleet of service vehicles. These electric vehicles will help reduce MCPS' overall greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and support the district’s commitment to reduce GHG emissions by 80% by 2027 and 100% by 2035.

Contest entries demonstrated the artistic talents, creativity and commitment of students to environmental sustainability. The winning entries will be wrapped and displayed on the MCPS’ electric fleet vans in upcoming months and will convey a powerful message about taking action to protect the environment.
