Glenstone Museum Continuing to Offer Free School Visits

Glenstone museum 1.jpg

For the second half of the 2023-2024 school year, the Glenstone Museum will offer guided on-site visits and virtual engagement options. Located at 12100 Glen Road in Potomac, the museum provides opportunities for middle and high school students to learn in an environment that encourages direct connection with art, architecture and nature.

Teachers can schedule school engagements from Thursday, Feb. 1, through Friday, June 14. Schedule a visit.

Starting on Thursday, March 21, there will be a few changes to the guided program:

  • The Pavilions building will be closed for construction, so visits will take place in the gallery and explore the museum’s outdoor sculpture. Guided visits will start at 9 a.m. and end at 11:30 a.m. to account for travel time.
  • Glenstone will continue to offer three regular guided engagements: Principles of Art, Art and Artists of the 21st Century, and Nature and Sustainability, all of which feature art in the Iconoclasts
  • Glenstone will offer a new path dedicated to the Iconoclasts exhibition, which presents a survey of modern and contemporary art created by artists who made some of the most radical contributions to art in the 20th century.
  • If students need to have lunch before leaving Glenstone, the museum can set up a space where they can eat bagged lunches they bring with them. Note: Lunches must be coordinated by the school. The museum is unable to provide lunch, accommodate dining in its café or on its patio, and does not offer to-go options.

Glenstone provides free bus transportation and substitute teacher coverage for guided visits. Details will be shared when your visit is confirmed.
