How to Enroll or Transfer Your Child

All families must begin by completing the online registration through ParentVUE. This step is required for:

• Students new to MCPS
• Students transferring from another U.S. state or county
• Students moving from private to public schools within MCPS

Step 1: Complete Online Registration (ParentVUE)

Create a ParentVUE account and submit your child’s application online. As part of the application, you will:

• Complete the Home Language Survey (to determine if English language support may be needed)
• Upload required documents
• Provide your child’s school history and most recent report card

Step 2: English Language Screening (If Applicable)

Based on the Home Language Survey, some students may be referred for English language proficiency screening.

This process helps determine eligibility for English Language Development (ELD) services to support your child’s academic success.

Step 3: Transfer Processing

After submitting your ParentVUE application:

• Our team will review your request
• We will guide you through the next steps
• We will coordinate directly with your child’s assigned school

Enrollment Pathways

MCPS offers two pathways based on student needs:

School-Based Enrollment

For students who do not require English language screening

Centralized Enrollment (International Admissions)

For students who:

• Require English language screening
• Meet international admissions criteria

Required Documents

Please be prepared to provide:

• Proof of student’s age (birth certificate, passport, or equivalent)
• Student identification
• Parent/guardian ID and proof of relationship
• Proof of residency (lease, deed, or shared housing documentation)
• Immunization records
• Previous school records (most recent report card, if available)
