This week, schools across the state celebrated Maryland Sustainable Schools Week! Explore our new Sustainability website to see how MCPS creates healthy, sustainable learning and working spaces for everyone.
Maryland Sustainable Schools Week (October 12 – 16) brought together school districts across the state to showcase sustainable infrastructure, operational achievements, and student environmental stewardship. Presented by the Maryland Outdoor Learning Partnership, the week-long event celebrated progress across Maryland's 702 certified Green Schools.
The week highlighted five key areas of environmental action:
MCPS Sustainability Specialist Giancarlo Rodriguez leads a sustainability outreach with students at Flower Hill Elementary School in Gaithersburg.
Maryland Sustainable Schools Week was proclaimed by Governor Wes Moore to recognize the work of Maryland schools and communities to advance sustainability, environmental literacy, and student engagement.
Is your school launching a recycling project, testing out a new energy-saving idea or thinking of becoming a Green School? We want to highlight your hard work!
