2027 Retiree Benefits Open Enrollment

October 5–30, 2026 

Retiree Benefits Open Enrollment is coming soon! Open Enrollment is your chance to review your benefit options and make changes to your current plans. Any changes you make to your benefits plan during Open Enrollment will be effective January 1, 2027. 

This fall's Open Enrollment will begin Monday, October 5, and will end Friday, October 30. You will receive the 2027 Retiree Benefit Summary in the mail at your home address. You also will receive the 2027 Retiree Benefit Rate Schedules booklet, which details the monthly cost of benefits at each cost sharing arrangement while factoring in Wellness Initiatives credits.* The 2027 Retiree Benefit Summary will explain available benefit options, explain the process to make changes to your benefits, and include the benefits enrollment form. As Open Enrollment approaches, that information also will be available on this web page.

Benefit Highlights for 2027

• MCPS-offered medical, prescription, dental, and vision insurance benefit plans will stay the same for 2027.
• Retiree premium contributions will increase by 1 percent. This adjustment aligns retiree contributions with the planned two-year premium increases negotiated for active employees. 
• Benefit rates are reviewed each year and may change based on overall healthcare costs and claims experience. 

Open Enrollment Virtual Assistance

ERSC will offer individual Open Enrollment assistance virtually. The assistance will be available Monday–Thursday from 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. throughout Open Enrollment. Retirees will be able to register for a 15-minute Microsoft Teams meeting with an ERSC representative. To sign up:

1. Open the sign-up screen.
2. Scroll down to select your preferred time.
3. Click the white Sign Up button. A checkmark will appear.
4. Click the Submit and Sign Up button at the bottom of the screen.
5. Provide your name and email address in the spaces provided.
6. To finish, click Sign Up Now.
7. You will receive an email that confirms your appointment and includes a link to your Teams session.

Open Enrollment Benefit Fairs

ERSC will hold three in-person Open Enrollment Benefit Fairs this year. ERSC staff and health-plan representatives from the medical, dental, vision, prescription, and FSA plans will be available in-person to answer your benefit questions. The Benefit Fairs will be held as follows:

 *Base benefit rates are the rates a retiree will pay for MCPS-provided health benefits if non-Medicare-eligible retirees/dependents did not participate in the Wellness Initiatives program; i.e., did not complete a health risk assessment or a biometric health screening (or Biometrics Incentive Alternative training) by the posted deadlines.
