2027 Retiree Benefits Open Enrollment

October 5–30, 2026 

Retiree Benefits Open Enrollment for the 2027 plan year began Monday, October 5, 2026, and will end Friday, October 30, 2026. Open Enrollment is your chance to make changes to your benefits or, in certain cases, to enroll in benefits you have previously dropped. All changes must be submitted by the October 30 deadline. In addition to the information and links on this web page, the 2027 Retiree Benefit Summary* and the 2027 Retiree Benefit Rate Schedules* are being mailed to retirees' home addresses.

Benefit Highlights for 2027

• MCPS-offered medical, prescription, dental, and vision insurance benefit plans will stay the same for 2027.
• Retiree premium contributions will increase by 1 percent. This adjustment aligns retiree contributions with the planned two-year premium increases negotiated for active employees. 
• Benefit rates are reviewed each year and may change based on overall healthcare costs and claims experience.

Retiree Benefits Information Sessions

Join the Employee and Retiree Service Center for one of two sessions providing a basic overview of retiree benefits to include Benefits Open Enrollment, Medicare enrollment, vaccines, and the Wellness Initiatives program. Attend in-person or virtually.

Open Enrollment Virtual Assistance

ERSC is also offering individual Open Enrollment assistance virtually. The assistance is available Monday–Thursday from 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. throughout Open Enrollment. Retirees can register for a 15-minute Microsoft Teams meeting with an ERSC representative. To sign up:

1. Open the sign-up screen.
2. Scroll down to select your preferred time.
3. Click the white Sign Up button. A checkmark will appear.
4. Click the Submit and Sign Up button at the bottom of the screen.
5. Provide your name and email address in the spaces provided.
6. To finish, click Sign Up Now.
7. You will receive an email that confirms your appointment and includes a link to your Teams session.

Open Enrollment Benefit Fairs

ERSC is holding three in-person Open Enrollment Benefit Fairs this year. ERSC staff and health-plan representatives from the medical, dental, vision, prescription, and FSA plans will be available in-person to answer your benefit questions. The Benefit Fairs will be held as follows:

Make changes to your benefits

To make a change to your benefits, you must complete and submit MCPS Form 455-22, Retiree Benefit Plan Enrollment, by Friday, October 30, 2026. Your form must have an original signature or must be signed using an electronic signature provider. After your change is processed, you will receive a confirmation from ERSC. Confirmations are sent twice weekly during Open Enrollment. Watch for your confirmation and verify that your change was made correctly.
