Pre-retirement planning webinars are available for members of the state teachers plan and their spouses.

Maryland State Retirement Agency (MSRA) Personal Counseling Sessions

Retirement Specialists from the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System are available to assist members planning for retirement. To schedule a virtual or in-person counseling session with a specialist, visit the online appointment scheduling website.

In preparation for the state counseling session, please file Form 9, Application for an Estimate of Service Retirement Allowance. Please allow 4–6 weeks to receive your state estimate from the MSRA. You may use this form only if you are eligible to retire within the next 12 months. Obtaining your estimate beforehand makes your counseling session more beneficial.

Note: If you have registered for mySRPS, you can create estimates online—no forms, no waiting. You will get the results right away. You can create these estimates even if you are years from retirement.

The MSRA publication The Mentor provides information on MSRA-sponsored pre-retirement virtual webinars and a retirement checklist for members within 12 months of retirement. Additionally, the MSRA publishes Retiree News and Notes, along with its retiree web page to provide helpful information for soon-to-be and current retirees.
