State Teachers’ Pension Plan Enrollment Reminder

Montgomery County Public Schools teachers who have not submitted or corrected and resubmitted their State Teachers’ Pension Plan forms to the Employee and Retiree Service Center (ERSC) must submit them as soon as possible. Failure to do so will result in a $100 penalty deducted from your September 2026 pay, as required by the state of Maryland.

Enrollment is mandatory for eligible employees and must be completed within 30 days of employment. Timely submission ensures you receive proper retirement credit.

Steps to Complete Enrollment

  • Complete MSRA Form 1: Application for Membership (no cross-outs, overwrites, or correction fluid)
  • Complete MSRA Form 4: Designation of Beneficiary (no cross-outs, overwrites, or correction fluid; must be notarized)
  • Attach a legible copy of your driver’s license, birth certificate, or passport as proof of birth date

Do not send forms directly to the Maryland State Retirement Agency (MSRA). Submit all documents to ERSC, which will complete the required section and forward them to MSRA.
