Retiring or Resigning from Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)?

If you are planning to retire or resign from your MCPS position, please review the Important Information for Employees Retiring or Resigning from MCPS web page to understand how your decision may impact your benefits, pension, and pay. All resignations must be submitted through MCPS Hub+.

If you are a resigning teacher, please note the following deadlines:

  • Non-tenured teachers may resign without breach of contract through May 1.
  • Tenured teachers must submit their resignation by July 15.

Employees who are resigning or retiring and have selected the Extended Pay option will receive a lump-sum payment of the remaining balance in their Extended Pay account at the end of the school year.
