Kaiser Permanente's Dental Benefits Administrator Experienced Data Breach

On August 16, 2019, Kaiser Permanente notified MCPS that its dental benefits administrator, Dominion National, discovered in April 2019 that an unauthorized party accessed some of its servers as early as 2010. These servers contained demographic information, including dates of birth, e-mail addresses, and social security numbers, of some current and former Kaiser Permanente members. Dominion National has corrected the issue and its internal investigation did not find evidence that any data was accessed, acquired or misused.

Dominion National is in the process of mailing notification letters to members who may have been affected. To protect those potentially affected by this incident, Dominion National is offering two-year memberships to ID Experts® MyIDCare™, which include credit monitoring and fraud protection services.
