World Language Immersion Program

 Please join us to learn about the MCPS elementary immersion programs this Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 6PM.  MCPS offers K-8 immersion programs in three target languages. Partial instruction in Chinese, and full instruction in both French and Spanish.  Students may begin in Kindergarten and can continue through Grade 8.

MCPS offers Spanish, French, and Chinese elementary immersion programs at seven schools. Some immersion programs are based on geographic location and/or give preference to local school students. Some programs are total immersion, meaning all core subjects are taught in the target language, while others are only partial immersion.

Any student entering grades K–5 in the following school year may participate in the immersion lottery. Students may choose to continue into the feeder middle school immersion program.

**January 11, 2021: Updated Immersion Information**

 The application process for the 2021-2022 school year will open on February 1, 2021.  An MCPS ID number is required to submit the immersion interest lottery form.  Please contact the home elementary school to submit the documents required for enrollment to obtain the ID number.

Middle School Immersion Programs

Application Process for Middle School Immersion Programs

Current grade 5 immersion students will complete a Notice of Intent form to continue to the middle school immersion program. DCCAPS will be mailing the Notice of Intent forms in mid December 2020. The deadline to return the Notice of Intent form is January 8, 2021.  

Families who are interested in the middle school immersion program who are not currently in an MCPS immersion program should call the DCCAPS (240-740-2540) office to inquire if space is available.
