All Interim Instructional Services (IIS) will take place virtually during the first semester. The virtual instruction provided by IIS teachers will be similar to the instruction students will receive from classroom teachers at their home school. In most cases, it is in the student’s best interest to access virtual instruction with their teacher and classmates, which also provides more instructional time than IIS. As a result, applications for IIS have been revised for 2020-21 (links to forms below), to ensure that the school and the practitioner affirm that the student needs and accommodations for virtual instruction cannot be provided by the local school. Accommodations such as recorded lessons, reduced workload, and abbreviated schedules can be provided at the school level.
Interim Instructional Services (IIS) in Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is designed to meet the needs of students enrolled in Grades K through 12 who are unable to participate in their MCPS school of enrollment due to a physical or emotional condition for reasons set forth in Maryland law.
