Comprehensive Health Education in Grade 5

Comprehensive health education standards and performance indicators are integrated throughout the elementary school experience. Grade 5 teachers implement a variety of health education learning activities to promote and practice wellness skills and strategies.  The Grade 5 Health Education Topics and Indicators have been updated to align to the Maryland State Department of Education Health Education Framework beginning 2024-2025 school year.  Updates to grades K-4 are currently in development and will be forthcoming.

Grade 5 Scope and Sequence

Units:

  • Health Literacy Skills -

    The health literacy skills emphasized in this unit, and throughout the program, include analyzing influences, accessing information, interpersonal communication, decision making, goal-setting, self-management, and advocacy.
