Conference for Parents Will Focus on Ways to Foster Brain Development in Young Children

The Parent Education and Family Support Program of Montgomery County Public Schools is sponsoring a conference for parents on how they can foster their children's brain development in the first few years of life and create a stimulating environment that can help lead to success in school.

The conference, Learning Starts at Home: Brain Development in Young Children, will be held on Saturday, January 27, from 8:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Connecticut Park Center, 12518 Greenly Street in Silver Spring.

Topics include: How Your Child's Brain Works, How Play Helps Your Child Learn, and Talking and Reading to Your Baby or Young Child. Workshops will be offered in both English and Spanish.

Scholarships are available to cover the $5.00 admission fee. A light lunch and child care for children one to five years old will be provided for participants.
