Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) will celebrate its Summer Food Service Program with a media event on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Rolling Terrace Elementary School. Superintendent of Schools Joshua P. Starr, Montgomery County Councilmember Valerie Ervin and Montgomery County Board of Education Vice President Christopher Barclay will join other local and state officials at the event.
Each summer, MCPS serves children throughout the county free nutritious meals as part of a variety of summer programs. This summer, nearly 9,000 students will receive meals at 114 locations, including 10 walk-in locations where children 18 and under can come in for a free meal. Last year, the Summer Food Service Program served more than 320,000 meals. The Summer Food Service Program is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
