Safety and Security at Redland Middle School:
Dear Bulldog Community,
Safety and security continues to be a top priority for MCPS and Redland Middle School. This year, students and staff will practice the following drills in the first week of school:
- Lockdown Drill
- Hold Drill
- Secure Drill
- Severe Weather Shelter Drill
- Earthquake (Drop/Cover/Hold Drill)
- Evacuation Drill
- Reverse Evacuation Drill
An overview of school safety and emergency procedures can be accessed using this link.
Students will receive a printed quick guide booklet about emergency responses to bring home. The electronic version can be accessed by clicking here.
Lockdown protocols are deployed when there is a potential or imminent threat inside the building. In addition to structures for students and staff, MCPS has provided protocols for families. Please review our lockdown protocols for parents and families.
Preventative measures can reduce the need for emergency responses. Maryland law prohibits loaded firearms from being stored or left where an unsupervised minor has access. Refer to the Parent’s Guide to Firearm Storage for more information.
The 2026-2027 Student Code of Conduct was recently released. Click here to read the Quick Guide.
The Code of Conduct will be used throughout the year to determine disciplinary and restorative actions in response to student behaviors. Access to the complete document in eight languages can be found at this link.
Thank you for your time and attention to this important matter. Please reach out to us with any questions or concerns.
