Making Prom Possible for Every Student

Attending prom is a big milestone for high school students and Montgomery County Recreation is working to make that dream a reality. The department is collecting new and gently used dresses, suits, dry-cleaned shirts, shoes, ties and accessories for its annual Prom Couture Closet giveaway event. Donations are being accepted through Saturday, March 21, at the Marilyn J. Praisner Community Recreation Center, 14906 Old Columbia Pike in Burtonsville. Drop off donations from:
- Monday–Thursday: 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
- Friday: 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
- Saturday: 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Other collection dates will be:
- Saturday, March 7, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Germantown Community Recreation Center, 18905 Kingsview Road, Germantown
- Saturday, March 21, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Jane E. Lawton Community Recreation Center, 4301 Willow Lane, Chevy Chase
Students will be able to "shop the racks" and choose a free prom dress or suit, shoes and accessories at the Prom Couture Closet giveaway event from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, at the Praisner Community Center.
