The Department of Food and Nutrition Services (DFNS) hosted its fifth annual “Taste of MCPS” event, where more than 150 students in grades 4–11 evaluated new menu concepts and sampled innovative flavors. Student feedback will help guide menu development for the 2026–2027 school year.

“We’re excited for students not only to taste the food today, but also to share feedback about what they’re experiencing,” said Liz Leach, director of DFNS. “They complete surveys about the food, and that data is critical in shaping what will appear on MCPS menus moving forward.”

Approximately 60 items from current, prospective and local vendors were available for tasting. Offerings showcased a variety of flavors and food types, including options such as a slider bar, eggroll-in-a-bowl and protein-rich snacks.
