The visit highlighted a unique connection between Maryland and Poland that began through a World Bicycle Day project at an elementary school in Witaszyce — located in Jarocin County in the Greater Poland Voivodeship — where students learned about Dr. King as a global civil rights leader and honored him in a Hall of Fame featuring influential figures depicted riding bicycles.

“This moment sends a clear and tangible message: social justice knows no borders,” Brandi Overton, principal, said. “It belongs to all people, regardless of race, religion or ethnicity. As we stand in unity and solidarity, we reaffirm our shared dedication to building a world where the ‘Beloved Community’ is not just a dream, but a lived reality for all.”
