School Improvement Plans Now Available Online
School improvement plans (SIPs) are focused, data-informed roadmaps to monitor progress, strengthen instruction and improve outcomes for all learners. They are tools for reflection, collaboration and growth that keep schools focused on what matters most: helping every student thrive.
SIPs for all MCPS schools are now available online in three places:
- On the SIP webpage.
- In the School Info Box on each school's website – example: Arcola ES.
- On the School-Odex pages (for each school) – example: Arcola School-Odex under the Report tab.
This year’s process incorporates new tools and rubrics to help schools measure progress more effectively. Schools set specific goals in literacy, mathematics, English learner achievement, and School Quality and Success, drawing from multiple data sources, including the Maryland School Report Card.
To ensure continuous, responsive progress, each school also develops a quarterly monitoring plan, a dynamic tool that enables teams to analyze results, review strategies and adjust actions in real time. Through regular classroom walkthroughs, data reviews and cross-functional team feedback, schools align instruction with their improvement goals and ensure equitable, high-quality learning experiences for every student.
