Four Students Named Carson Scholars

Four high school juniors have been named Carson Scholars, earning $1,000 college scholarships. Carson Scholars are students in grades 4–11 who excel academically and donate their time and talents to others. 

MCPS students who are first-time scholarship recipients are:

  • Pragna Banavara, Northwest High School
  • Tracy Espinoza, Watkins Mill High School
  • Sophie Huang, Richard Montgomery High School
  • Doris Wang, Montgomery Blair High School

Five additional MCPS students were named Recognized Carson Scholars, which reaffirmed their status as scholar recipients for maintaining a 3.75 grade point average and continuing to do volunteer work. They are:

  • Claire Kirner, 9th grade, Wheaton High School
  • Hannah Mathew, 11th grade, Damascus High School
  • Olivia Ormsby, 12th grade, Watkins Mill High School
  • Ayza Siddiqi, 11th grade, Clarksburg High School
  • Kai Zou, 12th grade, Winston Churchill High School
