Building Connections and Career Pathways: The Youth Leadership Summit
More than 170 MCPS high school students gathered at Montgomery College’s Germantown Campus for the annual Youth Leadership Summit, a day focused on learning, leadership and connection.
The Youth Leadership Summit was created to welcome and empower Emergent Multilingual Learners (EMLs) and newcomer students by connecting them with MCPS and Montgomery College resources. The event also provided students with opportunities to learn about academic programs and career pathways that support their future goals.
Students from Clarksburg, Gaithersburg, Col. Zadok Magruder, Northwest, Quince Orchard, Richard Montgomery, Rockville, Seneca Valley and Watkins Mill high schools, as well as several Career Readiness Education Academy (CREA) students, participated in interactive workshops, team-building activities and networking sessions designed to foster collaboration and community.
This event aligns with the district’s commitment to career and college readiness, offering students a way to explore possibilities, build relationships and strengthen their sense of belonging within the MCPS community.
