Montgomery Blair High School rang in its 100th year with a community-wide celebration on Friday, Sept. 26.
The event honored the school’s legacy of academic excellence and community impact, featuring remarks from community leaders, alumni and staff. It was a chance to bring generations of Blazers together in celebration on homecoming weekend.
Blair’s history dates back to September 1925, when the Takoma-Silver Spring School opened as the first “downcounty” high school. It was renamed Montgomery Blair High School in 1935, when the school moved to the Wayne Avenue location (now Silver Spring International Middle School).
Blair will continue to mark A Century of Excellence throughout the year with additional events and celebrations.
