Fostering Relationships Through Dance Using Intergenerational Techniques

Kendra Smith, the dance teacher at John F. Kennedy High School was awarded a grant from the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts as part of their annual Grants for Performing Arts Teachers program. This program recognizes public school educators in the Washington, D.C. region who bring innovative performing arts experiences to their students Smith's grant-winning project, titled Fostering Relationships Using Intergenerational Techniques (FRUIT), is a collaboration with the ClancyWorks Dance Company and the Jewish Council for the Aging's InterAges Program. The program uses creative movement to share personal stories. This intergenerational engagement aims to enhance students' self-expression through dance and build meaningful connections across generations.
