The Judy Center Early Learning Hub at Weller Road Elementary School celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 22.

Students, staff and community members attended, including Laurie-Anne Sayles, Montgomery County Councilmember; Peggy Pugh, MCPS Chief Academic Officer; Nichelle Owens, director of the Division of Early Childhood, Title I Programs, and Recovery Funds; Jessica Blasic, supervisor of the Prekindergarten and Head Start programs; Brent Mascott, Weller Road Principal; Dr. Tenaeya Rankin-Weathers, program manager at the Rolling Terrace Judy Center and Catherine Moy, program manager at the Summit Hall Judy Center.

The MCPS Judy Center Early Learning Hubs are grant-funded partnership programs that serve young children and their families. They are designed to help ensure that all children are ready for school success.

“The Judy Center will play a critical role in closing the opportunity gap for our children to ensure success in school and in life,” said Jennifer Falcón, program manager of Weller Road’s Judy Center. “Our Judy Center staff is working closely with families and members of the Weller Road community to develop relationships. We are excited to continue our collaboration with our families and our community partners in order to provide access to parent educational opportunities, support with navigating community resources and professional development opportunities for our child care partners.”
